Just so you know...
Hello Lyons new world civ classes. Mr. Lyon has asked me to keep a blog for his classes during my year abroad. I am going to be spending the next year in Antalya, Turkey as an exchange student. During my year there I will be attending Ozel Antalya Kolesi, an English/German school, and living with a host family observing the Turkish culture and learning the language. I am going with Rotary International and the opportunity is open to any high school students 15-18 years old. There are longterm programs like the one I am going on that send students out for a year and there are also short term programs for students who want the experience but maybe don't want to be gone so long. There are some for three months and some for as short as six weeks. For any students who are adventurous and looking to broaden their horizon I strongly advise looking into being an exchange student. Besides becoming fluent in a new language, you will gain life long friends and have experiences that will serve you well where ever you go, that and it looks great on college applications:) A lot of you are probably thinking 'yah no way' right now but seriously, it's not something you'll regret. Prom really isn't that big of a deal and graduation is just a really long ceremony. Being an exchange student definately isn't for everyone but if you think you're intereted, at least look into it. I hope that what ever it is that Mr. Lyon is thinking of doing with you all and this blog livens your sophomore year and inspires at least a few of you.
